Hotel Lamp Design
When designing lamps or lighting products, the design goes beyond the physical aspect to the design of the illumination. How much light is produced, where and how does it illuminate, and can the light be used in a way that is both functional and aesthetic?
Jules achieves this with a minimal form factor, reducing visual clutter or unnecessary details. All aspects of Jules’ physical design are born out of function. The glass shade provides clear downward light for task lighting and interesting patterned light to the sides.
The ribbed glass also diffuses the view of the bulb, creating a distorted view adding to the visual interest when illuminated.
The Jules lamp design went through a range of 3D prints to test sizes. Hotel lamp designs are typically slightly larger than home lighting, adding to the hospitality experience. Due to the higher range of guests and interaction, hotel lamps are normally designed to be more robust than their consumer counterparts. While they may look similar, fewer corners are cut to reduce cost and materials.
The global commercial lighting market was valued at $11.46 billion in 2022 and is expected to reach $64.67 billion by 2031
